The Warhawk Youth Basketball program is about more than just basketball.  We want our kids to form a strong community of future Warhawks, and give back to the greater Westerville community.  Throughout the year, WYBA members have social and charitable opportunities to increase their sense of community.


Examples have included: community service projects, end of season gatherings, Westerville parade, Central HS Homecoming parade, special Youth Spirit Nights at halftime of a Central HS Varsity game.

Blanket Service Project - 2025/2026 Season

For 2025/2026 Season, our 6th Grade Basketball and Cheerleading continued the community partnership with  My Very Own Blanket. Together with their families, we they made over 30 blankets.  

Sports Equipment Drive - 2025/2026 Season

For 2025/2026 Season, during one of our December Home Game Days we collected gently used sports equipment to donate to the Columbus chapter of Leveling the Playing Field.   

Blanket Service Project - 2024/2025 Season

For 2024/2025 Season, we invited 5th & 6th Grade Basketball and Cheerleading.  We had over 45 kids sign up to participate and together with families, made 36 blankets to be distributed by My Very Own Blanket to kids in foster care.  The representatives from My Very Own Blanket were very pleased and thankful for our support. 

Blanket Service Project - 2023/2024 Season

The 6th grade boys teams and cheerleaders had a service project where they made blankets and donated them to local foster agencies to distribute to children in care.  In total, we had 26 participants and 26 blankets made!

Lifeline Service Project - 2023/2034 Season

Our WYBA program had meal pack sessions at Lifeline Christian Mission right before Thanksgiving and Christmas (on 11/22/23 and on 12/21/23).  In total, we had 178 volunteers and packed a total of 12,960 meals that were sent locally and around the world to those in need.

Youth Teams are invited to participate in Youth Spirit Nights at Westerville Central to continue building the relationship with the Warhawk high school basketball programs.  Teams cheered on the Varsity teams and were recognized at half time.

Coaching staff from Central's Boys and Girls basketball programs offer skills sessions and summer camps.

WYBA players have historically received free admittance to Central High School Basketball home games, when wearing their current year WYBA Warhawks jersey, and accompanied by 1 paying adult per free student athlete.

In 2025, the 5th & 6th Grade WYBA players were invited to walk with the Central Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball programs in the Central Homecoming Parade. 

Westerville Community

Basketball teams and cheerleaders have occasionally marched in Westerville Independence Day Parades to spread program awareness and participate in a fun community event!
