WYBA Board

The Warhawks Youth Basketball program is overseen by a volunteer Board, currently numbering 8 parent members. The Board manages registration, scheduling, communication, compliance, supports team coaches in various ways, and works closely with the Westerville City School District and the Westerville Central High School Varsity Basketball programs.

The Warhawks Youth Basketball Association was started in 2121 by a group of volunteer parents who wanted to bring a COBA team to the Westerville school district children.  While being supported by the school district, Westerville Central High School athletic department and Varsity Basketball staff, these parents figured out how to form a program of teams that play in the COBA league, schedule gym time, recruit players and coaches, and elevate the program to be have a community focus (see Community page).    

Timeline: 

• 2021-2022: First Boys Basketball season
• 2022-2023: Expanded to add Girls Basketball 
• 2023-2024:  Expanded to add Cheerleading with 2 squads (see Cheerleading page)
• 2024-2025: Increased program participation to a new high 12 teams and over 100 kids, plus increased Cheerleading to 6 squads and 60 kids.  Players and Cheerleaders in 2024-2025 season attended more than 10 different Westerville City Schools.
