The Warhawks Youth Basketball Association is a community based, travel basketball program in Westerville, Ohio. We offer youth basketball players in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades, the opportunity to develop their individual and team basketball skills. We strive to prepare these athletes to eventually compete for the Westerville Central Varsity Basketball programs. Our program is a member of the Central Ohio Basketball Association (COBA) competing against top competition from around the Central Ohio area.
Player Commitment: The season runs from November - February, with practices 2 nights per week (starting early November) and generally 2 games per weekend (starting late November/early December). The teams will have between 14-16 games during the regular season plus 2-3 events/tournament (pending grade level). Home Games will be played at the Westerville Central High School on Sundays. Away Games will be played at other Central Ohio area schools on Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Boys Tryouts were scheduled for Sunday, September 8th and Thursday, September 12th. Boys should attend at least one session, and attending both tryout dates is recommended.
3rd & 4th grade: 5:00pm - 6:15pm on Sept 8th, 6:00-7:00pm on Sept 12th
5th & 6th grade: 6:30pm - 7:45pm on Sept 8th, 7:00-8:00pm on Sept 12th
Girls Tryouts scheduled for Sunday, September 15th
3rd - 6th grade - 6:00pm - 7:30pm
(Tryout Check-in 30 minutes before your listed start time)
The tryouts are closed tryouts (players and staff only). Parents should plan to drop off and pick up their kids at the above times. Parents are not permitted to wait around the gym or in the check-in area during tryouts. New parents with questions may attend a New Parent Q&A at the start of both open gym sessions on Sunday, August 25th.
Open Gym (Boys & Girls)
3rd & 4th grade: 5:00pm - 6:15pm on Sunday, August 25th
5th & 6th grade: 6:30pm - 7:45pm on Sunday, August 25th
Practice Schedule: Days are TBD - It is a 2 day a week schedule and either Tues & Thurs or Mon & Wed.
Practice Times: Gyms are rented from 6:15-8:15pm, practices will last no more than 90 minutes. (Coaches will contact you regarding your specific team's schedule and location at one of the Westerville school gyms)
Games: Generally 2 games each weekend during the regular season (late November - February), plus 2-3 Columbus area weekend tournaments/events (pending grade level)
Cost: Cost for the 2024-2025 travel season will stay stable at $375. The player cost goes towards: customized uniforms, practice jerseys, warmup shirts, insurance, league dues, referees, tournament fees and gym rental fees. Our goal is to keep costs low for our players, which is why the Board seeks program sponsorships. See more details on our Sponsorship page including different sponsorship tiers.
Offers: Offers to join a Warhawks team will go out after the final travel dates (Sept 12th for the boys and Sept 15th for the girls).
